Home MTC letter 8/15/2022
Howdy y'all!!! 1st mission letter! I am so excited to be writing this!
I've already had so much happened to me just in one week! I'm so excited to get into the field of Alabama and get to work!
Monday started out pretty slow, I woke up went on a walk with my mom, And when I say walk I mean run because my mom walks so fast. Called my companion, his name is Elder Labar. Elder Labar is awesome! He is from White Rock, North Dakota, and his graduating class was 3 people! His town is tiny, but his heart and love for the gospel is huge. I met with my district on on Monday around noon, over zoom, They are awesome! I had my 1st zoom meeting with my district, it was awesome!! 3 hours feels so much longer on zoom than in real life. Berklie and I went to target and I had some pretty interesting looks not gonna lie. This cute little girl kept staring at me trying to read what my tag said, and not gonna lie I loved the attention even if it was from a four-year-old little girl. I played 12 games of marble wars with my mom, and sadly I lost 5 to 7.
Tuesday was a rude awakening having to wake up at 6:30 again. Russell cluff, my homie, came to my house with his older brother and we played pickleball as my morning workout. Somehow Sampson (Russell's bro) beat both Russell and I. During one of my breaks, Easton and I went golfing at Lakeside golf course. Since I'm such a nice brother I let him win because I know Jesus loves me so I don't have to be amazing at everything. For lunch I had Subway, I had an amazing Buffalo chicken sandwich, But sadly I found out white is not my color because I spilled on it 5 times. I had zoom meetings from 830 to 11:30 AM and zoom meetings at 6 to 9P, they were both very good, we got to know each other a little bit in the district and talked about repentance. We had a branch meeting with everyone that started Home MTC on August 8th on Tuesday, I saw lots of my friends that are also missionaries, and 3 other missionaries asleep on the zoom call lol
Wednesday was a pretty chill day. I had my zoom meeting from 8 to 11, And had class from 6 to 9. We talked a lot about the plan of salvation and how we can apply to teaching a new seeker of the Lord. My mom and I played about 50 games of marble wars, and I'm pretty sure I won 40 to 10! I was on a roll, I am a winning marble champion in the Fox family household. Wednesday was probably the most least exciting day I had this week, no one in my family was home so I kind of just chilled with my mom as my companion! Best companion ever!
Thursday was the opposite of Wednesday, it was hectic and that's what I love! To start we had an emotional reliance course on on making sure we are spiritually physically and mentally prepared for our missions. That was in the morning, after that I went into my 830 to 11:30 AM zoom meeting, we talked about the love Christ has for us, and the atonement. I learned That every single person in my district other than me knows exactly where to find scriptures, but I found out there's cheat codes in gospel library to help me find them faster! After that My mom made me a awesome sandwich! Shout out to you mom lol After that I went and helped at the young mens golf Activity. I hit golf balls off the number 10T for every group to see if they could use my ball or not, and it was A-blast! After that I got on to my 3 o'clock session, it was my 1st investigator?! It was awesome! His name is Aaron, he is from a small town in Kentucky, and he is so awesome at asking questions and trying to learn more about the gospel! He is a very big Bible person, and tried to Bible bash my companion and I. Instead of Bible bashing him, I used A great technique that I was given to from Cory packer, and it was to sing I am a child of God to let him know God loves both of us. So over zoom, I sang to a random guy in front of my companion and they both were speechless after Lol After that I had a meeting from 6 to 9 PM about the holy ghost and how we can feel him in our everyday lives. It was a very spiritual lesson and I loved it!
Friday was a very eventful day! Woke up worked out, and got on my 1st zoom call at 8 to 11, we talked about Repentance again, and how the atonement is such a gift in each and every one of our lives. After that zoom call, my dad and I went golfing for the last time at Lakeside golf course. Easton joined us on whole 3 and played with us, I ended up losing to both of them, but I was happy to say that my last hole, and putt was for BIRDIE and I made it on whole night. So looks like I'm 1 under for the next 2 years On whole 9 of Lakeside golf course. After that I kind of chilled the rest of the day, with my family, until 6 period from 6 to 9 PM II had my 2nd zoom call and we talked about preach my gospel and how we can use it to teach and preach the lords work. Preach my gospel as such a huge tool in the missionary service and work, and I am so very grateful that I am able to have it and use it. The book of mormon and the Preach my gospel are to amazing resources for missionaries. After that I played marbles like 15 times with my mom and dad, and my dad ended up winning with a 5 and a 2. It was very very dumb not gonna lie.
Saturday is by far my favorite day of the week, Saturday I woke up and got onto zoom at 8 to 11, we talked about companionship study and our companions and got to know all about our companions more, and I'm so happy to say that my companion Elder Labar is the best companion I've had so far lol he is an amazing guy who loves the Lord, and is going to be an amazing missionary! He knows the book of mormon front and back and he knows The Bible front to back as well.He is very in-tuned with the spirit, and he helps me make sure I am trying my best and trying to keep the spirit with me at all times. He is a huge blessing in disguise, because I had no idea a kid from North Dakota and I could get a long. Fun fact, our mom's went to the same high school, and our dad went to Canada on their missions at the same time, in the same years.Throughout the day it was just boring and playing games with my mom. At 3 PM I had my 2nd investigator. His name was Aaron and he was a convert then he left the church again because of some questions he had about Joseph Smith. We ended up not even teaching him a lesson oversume, because all he wanted to do was talk with us and get to know each and every one of us because because he knew that if he got to know us, he would be able to feel the spirit more When we talked. He is a very spiritual guy. He just has lots of burning questions that he wants answers to right away. I ended up telling him that just because He hasn't gotten an answer yet, doesn't mean he won't get one. I said maybe all you need to do is keep pondering and praying and reading the book a mormon and your answer will come to you. Elder Labar and I feel like we did a very good job talking with him, and I am excited to meet with him in person next week at the MTC in Provo! After that I had 6 to 9 PM zoom meeting,We talked about teaching the law of chastity and how important it is in our day to follow the law of chastity.
Sunday was also a great day. I went to church at my cousin Harley Scott's Building, and listened to Pierce her husband bless their new baby. The spirit was so strong in the chapel when he was giving that blessing, And it was a very cool experience. After that we went to a park that was right next to my old house and we had waffles and talked. I had to sadly say goodbye for 2 years to some of my favorite cousins, but I know that These next 2 years will help me grow to become a better person in the long run. After that we went home and watched some golf for 20 minutes, then we went up to my grandma Fox and grandpa fox's house and talked with them for about 3 hours. I also had to say goodbye to them for 2 years, and that was probably the 2nd hardest goodbye I've had to say so far. I'm going to miss them a lot, but I know that this is something I must do. Just like it says in Mosiah 23:10 "nevertheless after much tribulation the Lord did hear my cries and did answer my prayers and has made me an instrument in his hands in bringing so many of you to a knowledge of his truth" I am now an instrument in the Lord's hands to bring to pass the gospel to the amazing people of Alabama. I am so excited for the opportunities that I will have and for the memories I will make!
I hope everyone has had a great week! If any of you have burning questions or concerns about the church, please don't be afraid to email me personally with questions! Ya'll have safe travels this week! Love you guys!
Your favorite elder,
Elder Fox
