Week 10!! 10/17/2022

10 WEEKS IN! NO LOOKING BACK NOW! 
I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!!
I HAD TO SPEAK IN CHURCH YESTERDAY AND THIS IS THE TALK I USED...

Brother Mulliken texted us on Monday and asked if we were going to clean up the hurricane, and that if we were not, if we could speak. I really wanted to go help with the hurricane clean up, but sadly because it is so far out of our area we cannot. I am excited to speak to you all today, this is my first talk as a missionary. The topic we were given to speak on was how the gospel blesses or lives.  

I love this topic because I have a ton of miracles and stories from my family that have shown that the gospel DEFINITELY blesses lives. The gospel has blessed my life and my family's life so much! I would love to share one with you guys, it is about me and a scorpion. 

The first story is my Scorpion story, (June 18th, 2018) 

This story shows me how faith and prayer are so powerful! 

I asked three people from back home how the gospel of Jesus Christ blesses their lives and their families' lives, and these were their responses. 

Amy Banks: The gospel gives us perspective to help us understand our purpose in life. We are: 

  1. 1.A child of God 

  1. 2. Here on earth to make choices (2 Nephi 2:27) 

  1. 3. This is the hardest for me, that there is opposition in this world and in all things. Life can be hard sometimes, but we also find joy in challenging times. 

  1. 4. Jesus is our savior and advocate with our father 

The gospel blesses my family by having understanding and purpose of life. We are not perfect, and that is OK! Christ gives us the ability to keep trying. He is our advocate with our father. We have the CHOICE to repent and make things right again.  

My Cousin Brash said: The gospel of Jesus Christ blesses my life so much! It gave me the book of Mormon! The book of Mormon blesses my life so much! I do not read it often, but when I do, I feel God's love for me. I know for a fact that Jesus died for us and loves us each individually. I know this gospel blesses our lives in every single way that the lord sees fit for us to be blessed. Our Heavenly Father loves all of us and knows what we are doing, that is why he gave us the gospel, to help us and teach us. 

My Little Brother Easton said: It keeps me on track of righteousness and truth. It also blesses my family with knowing the truth. My family and I, knowing the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, helps us become better and closer as a family. The closer as a family we are, the more blessing our family will receive from the gospel, but we do not just get it. We must thirst after it and get it. We must understand the gospel and live it, or we will not receive those blessings. 

These 3 people all see and use the gospel for different reasons and ways, but it all comes down to one thing and it's love from Jesus Christ and heavenly father. They love us so much they gave us everything! Including the priesthood! 

My second story is the story of my Grandpa Fox and his blessing (Covid times) 

This shows me how the power of the priesthood is something that we NEED and I am so thankful for the priesthood.  

In doctrine and covenants chapter 1, the blessings that we can receive from the gospel are told to us! Here are some of the blessings that are said: 

The Blessings for Members are: 

  • Those who seek wisdom might be instructed. 

  • Those that sin “might be chastened, that they might repent.” 

  • The humble will be made strong, blessed from on high, and receive knowledge. 

The third story from my family is my 4th Great Grandpa James Burningham BOM story (Southern States Mission 1854) 

I love this because it also talks in doctrine and covenants about what blessings we can receive from being a part of the church! 

The Blessings for the Church are: 

  • 1. Faith will increase on the earth. 

  • 2. The Lord’s everlasting covenant will be established. 

  • 3. The fullness of the gospel will be proclaimed by the weak and simple. 

  • 4. Power to lay the foundation of the Church and to bring it out of obscurity and darkness. 

These promised blessings are ones we should not take lightly! They are blessings we could all receive and benefit from each day.  

I would like to end my talk with my testimony of this gospel of Jeus Christ! It is the true and living gospel on the earth today! The Book of Mormon is true, it is the word of God. Just like my favorite article of faith says, “We believe the Bible to be the word of god, as long as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the Word of God.” I invite all of you to read the Book of Mormon, and to find your own testimony of this amazing book. The Book of Mormon is a huge blessing in our lives, and the more I read it, the more I love it! I know that our Prophet Russell M. Nelson is the true and living prophet on the earth today. I know he is leading and guiding us down the straight and narrow path that will lead to happiness for all eternity. Brothers and Sisters, I love this gospel! I love Jesus Christ and am so thankful for his atoning sacrifice he made for us, and bear this testimony with you, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We had 4 people come to church yesterday!! lets goooo our friends are starting to come and love church!!!! 


ALL WEEK THIS WEEK HONESTLY WASN'T THE BEST. LOTS OF NO AND SLAMMED DOOR BUT IN THE GREAT WORDS OF ELDER HINDS

'SOMETIMES YOU SUCK" I TOOK THAT QUOTE TO HEART AND THEN WE WENT TO THE CHURCH AND WATCHED MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!! IT WAS AWESOME!! BUT THE BISHOP FROM THE OTHER WARD CAME IN AND CAUGHT US! HE CALLED OUR MISSION PRESIDENT AND WE DIDN'T EVEN GET IN TROUBLE. LOL THAT BISHOP IS A GROUCHY MAN WHO DOESNT HAVE FUN. OH WELL TO TEACH THERE OWN I GUESS.

Week 40 5/15/2023

Hey all, super dope week this week!! We had lots of members come do lessons with us!!!!! Lots of rejection, but that part of life.....we did find 21 people that's the most we have found so YAY. My new comp is pretty great, he is almost done with his mission, but im making him work hard, to finish strong. Went on exchanges yesterday I was with elder Fallas he is W he is a homie  Nothing really else, we did get fed more than one time this week that's a W for me. People think they already have Jesus, but I keep reminding them that  we need Jesus everyday!! Spiritual thought....Ezekiel 37:13-17 talks about he stick of Judea and stick of Joseph being put together which is the Bible and the Book of Mormon, if you are confused pray about it and read Ezekiel 37 it explains why we need both and why the scattering of Israel was necessary for the restoration. 10/3/2022 Week 8 Baptism/Conference

Monday was pretty mid, we had a p day and that was about it, tuesday my companion went to Freeport and I stayed with a future missionary in the ward and went knocking on doors. Lots of people saying no to us, but that's aight. wednesday we had district council  thursday we grinded for a while. then we were told we had a meeting in prattville alabama so we packed up and headed north to stay with the elders before our meeting the next morning. we stayed with 8 other elders in one apartment it was pretty lit.....then we had follow up meetings with sister and pres chibota they made sure we were doing good physically and mentally and spiritually. Saturday we had our BAPTISM......Sister Linda Davis entered the waters of baptism, her son Tom baptized her. She had to get baptized 3 times, cause the first time her son messed up on her name, then her wrist didn't go under, so third times a charm. General Conference

Hey ya'll, how ya'll doing?? Hope everyone's week has been good!! Hope everyone is staying safe and doing good!!  I want to send this email regarding General Conference and my testimony of the Book Of Mormon!  I want everyone on earth and in heaven to hear the testimony I have of the Book of Mormon and the teachings it gives. I bear my solemn testimony that the Book Of Mormon is the word of God. That 531 pages of this book are true! They teach us all of the great doctrine needed in each and everyone's lives.
